Accountants for Creatives Team

Senior Tax Accountant

The Accountants for Creatives®

No timesheets. No billable hour targets. No return mill.

We’re looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who wants to actually know their clients and still have a life outside of tax season.

Who We Are

We’re a boutique, 100% remote CPA firm serving creative small business owners across the US — photographers, designers, makers, coaches, and the people building businesses out of work they love. We handle their tax returns, clean up their books, and act as the person they call before they make a big decision, not after.

Our client list keeps growing, and we’re building the team to support it. That means hiring experienced people and then trusting them to do the work the right way, on a schedule that fits their life.

We’ve been recognized as one of the Best Firms to Work For and named to Forbes’ America’s Top 200 CPAs. We think the two are related.

Top 5 Tax Questions from Small Business Owners

What Makes Us Different

  • We don’t track your time. No timesheets, no billable hour requirements, no justifying your day in six-minute increments. We care that the work is excellent and the client is taken care of. How long it took you is your business.

  • You’ll know your clients by name, not by return number. We’re not a seasonal return factory that meets a client in March and forgets them by May. Our clients work with us year-round for tax planning, projections, entity questions, “should I buy this equipment” calls in August. You’ll build real relationships and see the impact of your advice play out over years.

  • Summer Fridays off. We put in extended hours during tax season specifically so we can close down for a three-day weekend all summer long. It’s not a perk we dangle, it’s the trade we make on purpose.

  • A genuinely flexible schedule. School pickup, a standing morning workout, a dentist appointment at 2pm on a Tuesday. You don’t need to ask permission or make up the hours. Outside of the January-through-April push and client commitments, you own your calendar.

  • An annual team retreat. Once a year the whole team gets together in person. It’s the one time we’re all in the same room, and it’s a real highlight (not a mandatory offsite with trust falls).

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and review individual returns, primarily Schedule C, Schedule E, multi-state, and home office situations, with an eye for quality and accuracy

  • Prepare and review partnership and S-Corp returns

  • Review bookkeeper’s work and provide clients with P&L report, balance sheet, and insight on the financial health of their business

  • Handle tax research and tax projections

  • Meet your deadlines on reviews and projects

  • Talk with clients directly and often (email, phone, and video) and translate complicated tax concepts into plain English they can act on

  • Pitch in on other work as it comes up, the way you do at a small firm

What We’re Looking For

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Five or more years of public accounting experience

  • Hands-on preparation and review experience with individual, partnership, and S-Corp returns

  • Strong accounting software and Excel skills (Drake experience is a plus, but we’ll get you up to speed)

  • Organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented — the kind of person who catches the thing everyone else scrolled past

  • Willing to work increased hours from the last week of January through Tax Day. We’re honest about this: tax season is busy. That’s exactly why the rest of the year looks the way it does.

  • Able to build a relationship that goes beyond the numbers. Our clients stay with us because we take the time to learn about them and we care whether their business succeeds.

  • Able to break down complex accounting topics into clear, useful explanations and examples
